About Elise Kramer, Ophthalmologist - eye doctor
Dr. Elise Kramer is a residency-trained optometrist in Miami FL who specializes in ocular health and disease, ocular surface disease and regular and specialty contact lens fitting. She speaks fluently 5 languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian and Hebrew.
> Eye exam: it is important to get regular and comprehensive eye examinations in our local Miami practice to help in diagnosing and treating serious eye conditions and assessing your overall health and how it affects the eyes.
> Contact lens: contact lenses are a convenient and satisfying alternative to eyeglasses. The first step to a contact lens fitting is a comprehensive eye exam in our Miami Optometrist practice. This is our regular exam that determines overall eye health and eyeglass prescription. These baseline measurements are essential to infer an adequate contact lens evaluation and allow us to rule out any eye health problems that may interfere with successful contact lens wear.
> Dry eye treatments: at Miami Contact Lens Institute in South Florida, we offer a variety of dry eye treatments to have your eyes feeling more comfortable.
> Myopia management clinic: at Miami Contact Lens Institute, we are proud to offer a new myopia management clinic designed to help patients get the treatments they need for this common but serious condition. Our clinic is geared toward patients who:
- Develop problems with nearsightedness as children
- Suffer progressive myopia each year
- Have very severe myopia
- Have family history of high myopia
> Pediatric exams: our goal is to ensure your child’s vision is optimal and there are no eye health concerns. Eye care for children differs from care for adults. Children rarely complain about eye problems because they don’t know what normal vision is.
> Emergency eye care: we are available to help if you encounter an eye emergency. Our Miami Optometry office provides emergency eye care services for infections, injuries and other urgent matters. We ensure that you are seen immediately. We have the knowledge and equipment to meet all of your eye care needs in one location. In addition to the services you already rely on us for such as routine eye exams, contact lenses and specialty contact lenses, think of us first for:
- Red and irritated eyes
- Broken blood vessels
- Eye allergies
- Eye burning
- Eye pain
- Puffy eyes
- Pink eye and other bacterial or viral infections
- Foreign object removal (such as wood or metal)
- Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes
- Spots, flashes and floaters
- Eye Injury
Dr. Elise Kramer – Eye Specialist Optometrist:
Her Doctorate degree was awarded in Optometry from the Université de Montréal in 2012 where she received a grant from the Scholarship Program of the Québec Ministry of Education for short-term university studies outside of Québec. Receipt of this scholarship award is based on academic performance. In the summer of her second year, she participated in a humanitarian mission in Laayoune, Morocco where she helped hundreds of impoverished people by giving them free eye examinations and glasses corresponding as closely as possible to their prescription.
During her fourth year, she completed a specialty contact lens training seminar course at the Vision Care Institute in Jacksonville, Florida. Later, in her fourth year, she helped teach a course on slit-lamp use and ocular foreign body extraction to family medicine residents in Montreal. She then completed her internship in ocular disease at the Eye Centers of South Florida, where she worked with Dr. Dan and Dr. Hoffman and went on to complete her residency at the Miami VA Medical Center. Her time there included training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top eye hospital.
After her residency, Dr. Kramer became a fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society. Dr. Kramer is a member of the American Optometric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She strives to assist each patient with quality and advanced eye care whether he or she requires a basic eye exam or specialized eye or vision care.
